Blue Wave

Myscelia cyaniris

The upperside shows iridescent violet-blue bands on a dark ground with white dots, while the underside is cryptic grey-brown. It flies fast in short bursts, perches on trunks and feeds at fermenting fruit. The flash of blue when it opens its wings surprises visitors and adds variety to fruit-feeding stations.
