Banded Peacock

Anartia fatima

A dark brown butterfly with a pale white-to-cream band across both wings and a red bar on the hindwing. It flies low in short hops between small flowers and often basks with wings spread. Easy to spot and easy to keep, it suits busy public exhibits well.
