Small Postman
Heliconius erato
Black wings with a red forewing band and, in Central American forms, a thin yellow hindwing line. It flutters gently among flowers, gathers pollen and roosts communally on twigs and vines at night. Hardy, long-lived and active all day, it keeps a flight house lively from morning to closing time.
