Starry Night Cracker

Hamadryas laodamia

The darkest of the crackers: nearly black wings sprinkled with bright blue dots like a night sky, with females adding a white band across the forewing. It rests head-down on trunks with wings spread, and males make an audible clicking sound in flight. A jewel for shaded, forest-style exhibits.
