A strikingly dimorphic species: males are black with six bold orange patches, while females are black with a pale yellowish band across the forewing. It feeds on ripe fruit and often perches on foliage with its wings spread. Displaying both sexes side by side makes a vivid, easy-to-grasp lesson in sexual dimorphism.
